Hear Ye, Hear Ye

The workload continues. Every day is another day of restocking and rebuilding. Sometimes it seems like so much still to do yet and then we look back and realize so much has been done and we really are getting somewhere!

Hardware is back up & running; Doors are open and more stock is coming in every day. Special orders are welcome and processed as usual.

Lumber & Agro are moved into the ATCO trailer and are also open for business. If you need any lumber quoting or purchases, we are more then willing to help you with that.

**All members who paid May's statement by June 15th, please bring your statement in to the administration office (situated at the grocery store) in order to receive your 3% rebate. **

Progress

Progress is being made!  We got in some product and have been stocking shelves, we are hoping to be functional by mid next week.   Oil sales and special orders can be accommodated at the hardware store across from the grocery store.
Feed is operational out of the same building with most products available.

Moving Forward

The portable offices have arrived! We hope to have power & phone hooked up tomorrow (Friday) and we will notify you of the phone numbers allocated as soon as we can.

It is not looking like great news for getting the copies of invoices for Hardware & Building Supplies for the month of June. We are working at retrieving from back-ups but we don't know yet whether that is possible.

Hardware is hoping to setup shelving in the next couple days and some inventory will then arrive mid-late next week. More information will be posted about that when we know more.

It's crazy to think how long a fire can burn. Just a few days ago the fire dept. was called out once again to address open flame. We can be truly thankful we have a great fire dept. in the area! (Photo below)

We appreciate everyone's patience & encouragement as we move forward! :)

Onwards & Upwards

We had another productive day at the Co-op. Refurbishment in the former service center is coming along nicely and will become our new Home & Farm Center soon. Feed will also be available tomorrow.
All departements are now up and running. Give us a call for anything you need!
Regular telephone will, D.V, be up and running mid-late next week. We will notify you then what the different numbers are.

Operation: Up & Running!

Plans are underway for Hardware, Feed & Farm Machinery/Equipment to be situated in the old Service Center building after some sprucing up. Temporary office facilities are also in the works for the other departments still situated on the main site.
We are hoping to get computers, internet and phones working in the near future. Administration (account payments, queries etc) is now located in the Grocery Store.
We are well on our way to getting 'up & running' and we thank you for all your patience in the mean time! :-)

Monday, June 24, 2013

It all started on a sunny Saturday. It was a regular day, and fairly uneventful. Then at approximately 3:15pm a fire started in the roof of the warehouse of the Home & Farm Center. After safely evacuating all the people in the building & doing a role call, all we could do was watch and wait for the Fire Department. From there the battle was on & the firefighters worked hard to contain the flames. Unfortunately the whole building was destroyed but we can all be very thankful that God protected us all and we got out safely.

Sunday was somewhat of a blur for us all, as we came to terms with the weekend's happenings.
Very quickly Monday morning arrived and all the staff met together to start organising and rebuilding our business. The initial plan from here is to obtain some portable offices and warehouses. We are trying to get up and running ASAP to serve our community. Currently the Cardlock & Agro are back up and running as is the water.

At this stage we don't have our regular phonelines so we have the following cell numbers available which you can phone or text. However because of poor cell reception in the area please be patient!

Albert Mast: 780-307-4518
Steven DeVries: 780-307-3200 - Agronomy
Harry Peters: 780-307-4984 - Agronomy
Nathan Schouten: 780-674-0465 - Lumber
Bert DeGier: 1-780-977-1462 - Lumber
Glenn VanderLugt: 780-307-4574 - Feed & Farm Equipment
Thad Vegter: 780-307-7947 - Hardware
Jane VanLeeuwen: 780-305-8195 - Hardware
Jan Harink: 780-284-0384 - Hardware
Mark Baron: 780-674-0054 -  Fuel

We are extremely grateful for the hard work of the Barrhead, Westlock and Lac St Anne Fire Departments, the RCMP and the EMS. We would also like to take this opportunity to thanks the entire community & local businesses who helped or offered their help. We would also like to thanks our Heavenly Father who protected us all and the other buildings on the property. It is also through Him that we will be able to rebuild and get through this both as a business and as a community.

We will be updating this blog periodically with more information as it becomes available.
